About the position

As a Visual Designer at Google, you will play a crucial role in crafting user-centered design experiences that are both beautiful and accessible. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to gather insights and inform design decisions, ensuring that products not only meet user needs but also align with Google's design language. This position involves leading design projects from concept to execution, focusing on innovative solutions that enhance usability and user engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare presentations and communicate design strategy to partners, analyzing user needs and potential solutions.
  • Lead the discovery phase of projects by defining design principles and creating a brand interface design system.
  • Collaborate with engineers to implement designs based on user insights and business needs.
  • Elevate the overall design outcome by providing guidance and feedback, ensuring clear and exciting design storytelling.
  • Lead design efforts in branding, graphic design, typography, and motion, advocating for design within and outside the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in product design or UX.
  • Experience implementing visual design systems across platforms in an iterative software development environment.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Sketch.
  • A portfolio demonstrating command of visual design.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10 years of experience in digital product design.
  • Experience in system design, prototyping, and motion design to enhance usability.
  • Knowledge of typography, color, prototype, and visual storytelling.
  • Ability to build partnerships with UX peers and cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to grow and deliver results in an ambiguous environment.
