About the position

National Instruments is seeking a passionate Staff Visual Designer who excels in user interface design and possesses a keen eye for detail. This role involves creating conceptual designs, production-level graphics, and iconography for various platforms including desktop PC, Mac, and mobile. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and a deep understanding of how visual design translates to the screen, ensuring that designs are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional.

Responsibilities

• Create conceptual designs and production-level graphics for desktop, web, and mobile platforms.
• Develop iconography that aligns with the brand and enhances user experience.
• Collaborate with multiple teams to manage time effectively across various projects.
• Analyze visual forms and simplify them into appealing concepts that resonate with users.
• Communicate design ideas clearly and effectively to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
• Proficient in Figma and Adobe Illustrator.
• Strong illustration skills and a portfolio showcasing iconography.
• Comprehensive design and image building skills.
• Ability to visually analyze form and simplify into appealing visual concepts.
• Strong time management skills across multiple projects and teams.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Sketching/Painting capabilities.
• At least 1 year of experience designing applications for desktop, web, or touch.
• Familiarity with educational, scientific, technical, or engineering products.
• Experience with XAML and WPF.
