About the position

Twist is seeking a Staff Visual Designer to enhance its internal creative team, focusing on branding, campaigns, and content creation. The role involves collaborating with the marketing team to develop innovative visual solutions that simplify complex scientific concepts into engaging consumer-facing materials. The designer will contribute to various projects, including digital and print ads, presentations, social media content, and event designs, while also mentoring team members and advocating for design excellence within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Create compelling design concepts, illustrations, icons, data visualizations, and artwork.
  • Contribute to the visual identity and branding of Twist and its products.
  • Participate in briefing and brainstorming sessions.
  • Revise work based on feedback from collaborators.
  • Build compelling decks to explain ideas and present them persuasively to peers and leadership.
  • Deliver design projects on time and to the highest standards with minimal oversight.
  • Collaborate positively with key stakeholders, project management, and company leadership.
  • Mentor team members, fostering growth and development.
  • Contribute dynamically to Twist's creative standards and approach.
  • Use digital management and asset tools like Frontify and Airtable to keep projects on track.
  • Bring new creative and marketing inspiration to the team and company.
  • Advocate for creative and design excellence internally.
  • Educate yourself on Twist's products, market, competitors, and customers.

Requirements

  • 8 or more years of proven experience in marketing design, advertising, or branding.
  • An online portfolio showcasing design work.
  • Expertise in design, typography, photography, illustration, and color.
  • Ability to understand and creatively evolve brand guidelines.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Familiar with Google Suite and MS Office Suite.
  • Comfort with Figma and best practices in design production.
  • Experience managing others and working with external production partners.

Nice-to-haves

  • Motion graphic, video editing, and animation experience.
  • Experience with digital asset management and project management software.
  • Previous experience working with technology or biotech brands.
