About The Position
At Garnet Health, the Hudson Valley's leading integrated health system, the Staffing Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that nursing management is effectively supported in staffing both inpatient and outpatient areas. This position requires a keen understanding of volume, acuity, activity, and collective bargaining agreements (CBA's) to make informed staffing decisions. The Staffing Specialist is responsible for assigning and scheduling float employees, as well as advance-booking employees for work, with a focus on minimizing overtime whenever possible. Daily documentation of employee absences, leaves, and schedule changes is essential to maintain accurate records. The Staffing Specialist will also review staffing sheets for the next shift, day, and weekend to identify any shortages or overages, and perform payroll functions as needed. Maintaining excellent attendance, reliability, and strong employee/customer relations is paramount, as is demonstrating a calm and professional demeanor at all times.
