About the position

The Stamping Tooling Specialist at Ford Motor Company plays a crucial role in supporting manufacturing process engineering activities. This position focuses on optimizing safety, quality, and productivity within the automotive manufacturing sector, specifically in stamping tooling. The specialist will apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to enhance continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and products, ensuring that all Ford requirements are met and tools are approved for final shipment to production plants.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input to engineering process development and die design.
  • Lead panel fixture strategy development and checking fixture design reviews.
  • Follow die construction process through machining, tryout, and across all quality loops through launch acceleration and PSW.
  • Buy off on all physical die conditions and work with body construction and tool shop to identify priority areas of focus and action plans to address in each quality loop.
  • Ensure all Ford requirements have been met and approve tools for final shipment to the plant.
  • Launch tools at the production plant upon die delivery to ensure duplication in home line, identify and address productivity issues, and achieve PSW.
  • Capture all 'lessons learned' issues and feed back to engineering to improve future processes and designs.
  • Interact regularly with China Tooling Office (CTO) during morning/evening meetings.
  • Travel locally on a regular basis to various plants and tool shops.
  • Travel and support launches as needed at outlying plants.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in Automotive Manufacturing.
  • 5+ years of experience in Stamping tooling.
  • Previous experience working with Stamping Tooling equipment.
  • Program management experience.
