About the position

The Standard Products Engineer at ITW Construction will leverage engineering design and manufacturing principles to enhance the functionality, cost-effectiveness, and assembly efficiency of fastening tool products. This role involves collaboration across various departments to ensure product improvements align with manufacturing capabilities and cost expectations, while also leading design validation and testing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Use data driven analyses to understand system functions and identify opportunities for product improvement
  • Lead Value Engineering projects aimed at identifying savings opportunities
  • Design and create concept designs through application of engineering principles and risk assessment techniques
  • Collaborate with marketing, purchasing, manufacturing and other internal departments to construct project scope and determine costs & manufacturing feasibility
  • Work closely with suppliers to find solutions to product improvement concepts
  • Ensure new designs align with manufacturing process capabilities, cost expectations and assembly processes
  • Lead the acquisition and assembly of design prototypes for testing
  • Develop test procedures to verify component and system performance meets project goal
  • Clearly communicate with engineering team members, Supplier Relations, product validation, other internal groups, as well as suppliers to assure smooth project progress
  • Organize project information and act as point person for related issues.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
  • 5+ years design & development engineering experience with mechanical or electro-mechanical products
  • Familiar with multiple manufacturing processes such as die casting, investment casting, injection molding, stamping, extrusions and machining
  • CAD design/modeling (CREO preferred)
  • Competent in basic engineering & physics such as statics, dynamics, and strength of materials (metallurgy)
  • Experience with statistical process capability analyses
  • Project management experience a plus
