About the position

The Starbucks Barista position involves preparing coffee drinks and related food items while ensuring high-quality customer service and product availability. Responsibilities

  • Prepare coffee drinks and related food items as requested by customers.
  • Ensure customer service and product quality, selection, and availability.
  • Handle customer relations positively, including resolving complaints.
  • Promote personalized service in the coffee bar.
  • Fill customer orders by preparing specialty drinks and stocking display cases.
  • Build sales through sampling and suggestive selling techniques.
  • Clean and maintain the coffee bar sitting area.
  • Receive and break down loads, stocking and rotating products as needed.
  • Create effective displays for coffee, cups, and pastries.
  • Clean all production equipment and communicate maintenance issues to the supervisor.
  • Operate cash register and process customer payments accurately.
  • Assist customers with product specifications and special orders.
  • Monitor inventory and ensure compliance with vendor requirements.
  • Implement promotional and seasonal displays to control shrink and expenses.
  • Maintain organized work and sales areas, including backroom and cooler.
  • Ensure proper merchandising of products and monitor product flow.
  • Respond to incoming calls and resolve customer complaints appropriately.
  • Perform all job duties safely, accurately, and with integrity.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of all job duties within the coffee bar.
  • Ability to taste, smell, and test products.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of company practices and vendor policies.
  • Ability to describe products and educate customers on coffee.
  • Knowledge of product quality, variety, standards, and sanitation.
  • Basic mathematics and measurement skills.
