About the position

The General Manager II (GMII) at Starbucks in Salt Lake City Airport is responsible for overseeing the operations of a complex Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) or a small cluster of restaurants, ensuring high operational and financial standards are met. The GMII manages staffing, product availability, and customer service while fostering a positive work environment and driving revenue growth. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to make strategic decisions to ensure the overall success of the restaurant.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the restaurant, ensuring all staff understand the importance of these processes.
  • Deploy staff and resources to maximize profitability and accept P&L responsibility.
  • Provide consistent support, coaching, and encouragement to restaurant staff to achieve business goals.
  • Conduct interviews and make hiring, termination, and promotion decisions for associates.
  • Promote HMSHost as an employer of choice within the local community.
  • Ensure compliance with onboarding and offboarding processes for all restaurant associates.
  • Monitor financial and operational data to track progress towards unit goals.
  • Recognize and motivate restaurant staff for their contributions and performance.
  • Ensure daily orders are prepared and units are stocked appropriately.
  • Oversee receiving goods and processing invoices, maintaining vendor relationships.
  • Maintain restaurant equipment and schedule routine service or repairs as needed.
  • Conduct training and education activities for restaurant associates.
  • Implement marketing programs and drive revenue through promotional activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of overall working restaurant experience in QSR or Casual Dine settings.
  • At least 3 years of restaurant P&L management experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in team management, delegation, and issue resolution.
  • Ability to manage multiple and concurrent priorities effectively.
  • Strong understanding of HMSHost policies, products, and operational standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduation from a Food Service Management or Culinary program may substitute for some experience requirements.
