About the position

The State 4-H Program Coordinator at UConn Extension will oversee and coordinate various administrative aspects of the UConn 4-H program, including event management, fund development, and compliance with federal and state regulations. This role involves collaboration with the State 4-H Program Leader and the UConn 4-H team, focusing on enhancing program visibility and engagement while ensuring adherence to minor protection and civil rights requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the Online 4-H Enrollment System for the UConn 4-H Program, serving as the State Administrator and Manager.
  • Train and provide technical support to 4-H staff, families, and volunteers using the enrollment system.
  • Serve as a resource for 4-H faculty and staff on program enrollment and event policies.
  • Coordinate registration for statewide 4-H events and manage planning committees.
  • Conduct interviews and orientation meetings for youth selected for national 4-H award trips.
  • Complete paperwork for 4-H youth participation in programming at the Big E.
  • Serve as the registered agent of the Connecticut 4-H Foundation, Inc.
  • Manage UConn Extension Foundation accounts and ensure compliance with tax laws.
  • Analyze and manage the annual state 4-H team budget process.
  • Engage and manage 4-H donors, including tracking donations and securing funding.
  • Collaborate with the UConn Extension Communications Specialist to manage content across platforms.
  • Oversee compliance with UConn Minor Protection policies and coordinate background checks for volunteers.
  • Assess risks for 4-H events and develop appropriate responses to ensure safety and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 3 to 4 years of related experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Administrative support experience for program and event coordination.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial planning.
  • Experience in creating social media content for professional organizations.
  • Website maintenance experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals.
  • Confidentiality and professional boundary maintenance skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software applications.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to work independently and analyze information effectively.
  • Knowledge of 4-H programs.
  • Experience in fundraising for non-profit organizations.
  • Familiarity with youth/minor protection and civil rights compliance laws.
  • Knowledge of UConn Foundation accounting system and enterprise systems like Kuali, Husky Buy, or Concur.
