About The Position

The State Park Intern position offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about the outdoors to gain hands-on experience in park management and environmental education. Interns will engage in various park operations, including visitor services, trail maintenance, and wildlife observation, while facilitating educational experiences for diverse age groups. This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and rewards associated with managing state park resources.

Requirements

• Current full-time enrollment in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in Education, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field.
• Completion of freshman year with a good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher).
• Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university.
• Possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with facilitating educational experiences for individuals ranging from ages 4 to adult.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver daily activities for the DiscoverE Summer Day Camp Program.
• Ensure the health and safety of participants during scheduled events and activities.
• Support the center's butterfly house by caring for and nurturing butterflies.
• Engage with the public during open hours.
