About the position

The Kentucky State Park Ranger Division has openings for Interim State Park Ranger I at multiple parks throughout Kentucky. This is a seasonal position for up to 8.5 months. A Kentucky State Park Ranger I enforces state laws on Kentucky State Park properties, protecting guests and property while providing a safe environment. Shifts may vary depending upon the needs of the park. The Ranger may also provide services to guests such as trail rescues, first aid, and general information regarding area attractions and assigned parks.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce state laws on Kentucky State Park properties.
  • Protect guests and property.
  • Provide a safe environment for park visitors.
  • Perform trail rescues and first aid as needed.
  • Provide general information about area attractions and assigned parks.

Requirements

  • Required Peace Officer Professional Standards (POPS) Certification.
  • One year experience as a certified peace officer.
  • Working knowledge of Kentucky Revised Statutes.
  • Ability to quickly learn the policies and procedures of the Kentucky State Parks and Ranger Division.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use basic computer programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
