About the position

The Station Control Technician Apprentice or Journeyman at Idaho Power plays a crucial role in the Substation Construction team, responsible for installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting control systems in substations and power plants. This position is essential for ensuring the reliable and safe delivery of energy to communities across Idaho and Oregon. The role offers a blend of hands-on technical work and opportunities for professional growth within a supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and troubleshoot substation and power plant control systems.
• Work with system monitoring equipment, SCADA, SER, DFR, RTUs, RAS, AMI, and protective relay systems.
• Adhere to safety regulations and practices in all work activities.
• Read and understand station drawings and make necessary corrections.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and other departments.
• Travel to different service territories for work assignments, adhering to a hitch schedule.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and vocational degree in an electrical or construction discipline or equivalent experience.
• 2 or more years of work experience in an electrical or control wiring field for Apprentice level.
• 5 or more years of work experience in an electrical or control wiring field for Journeyman level.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Valid DOT medical card or ability to obtain one prior to hire.
• Must obtain First Aid/CPR card within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

• Journeyman electrician certification.
• Bureau of Office of Apprenticeship (OA) Certification in an Electrical Technician Apprentice program.
• AAS in electrical or electronic systems or equivalent.
• Confined space training.
• Fall restraint training.
