About the position
The Shift Engineer at ASR Group is responsible for the operation and maintenance of high pressure boilers, steam-driven turbine generators, and auxiliary equipment in a refinery setting. This role involves ensuring safe and efficient operations, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining accurate records. The engineer will also instruct and assist mechanics in their duties, monitor processes, and respond to alarm signals, all while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain high pressure boilers, steam-driven turbine generators, pumps, air compressors, and auxiliary equipment.
- Follow approved standard and emergency procedures for equipment startup and shutdown.
- Instruct and assist Power House mechanics in maintenance tasks.
- Maintain records including a Power House log and collect data hourly.
- Report problems with operating conditions or equipment.
- Communicate with process supervisors to identify power or steam deficiencies.
- Monitor and troubleshoot processes and conditions as needed.
- Notify appropriate personnel when alarm signals sound.
- Perform minor mechanical repairs as required.
Requirements
- Valid Maryland First Grade Stationary Engineer License.
- Formal training and experience in operating high pressure boilers and steam-driven turbine generators.
- 5 years of experience with Boiler/Powerhouse Utilities and processes involving high pressure steam generation and power generation.
- Experience with energy improvement programs and utility switching is a plus.
