About the position

The Stationary Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, renovation, and repair of boiler systems and various mechanical systems within a facility. This role is critical in ensuring that equipment operates safely, economically, and within established limits across diverse environments such as schools, hospitals, and industrial plants. Stationary engineers monitor and control equipment, perform repairs, and conduct routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and repair boiler systems and mechanical systems in various facilities.
  • Start up, regulate, repair, and shut down equipment as necessary.
  • Monitor meters, gauges, and computerized controls to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform routine maintenance including lubricating moving parts and replacing filters.
  • Record operational events and maintenance activities in equipment logs.
  • Detect potential mechanical problems through observation and listening to machinery.
  • Test and chemically treat hydronic systems to prevent corrosion and harmful deposits.

Requirements

  • Completion of an average of four years of apprentice training, including on-the-job and classroom training.
  • Strong work ethic and responsible attitude.
  • Interest in technical subjects such as boiler operation, air conditioning, and refrigeration.
  • Willingness to continue learning and updating skills through additional courses.
  • Ability to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous mechanical or technical experience is helpful but not necessary.
