About the position

This position is being re-advertised 'until filled'. All applications will be reviewed and only the most qualified will be interviewed. Schedule for the first 2-4 weeks during onboarding will be Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. The position is based in Los Angeles and may require overtime during nights and weekends, as necessary, to be present during events outside of regular business hours. A flexible schedule is available, however, full remote work or telework is not an option. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at the California Science Center (CSC), a world-class science museum, that develops and features award-winning exhibits and internationally renowned education programs. Under the general direction of the Chief Engineer II, the Stationary Engineer performs work to a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of boiler, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, lighting, power, water, water treatment, access controls, and fire systems in State-owned and occupied buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of boiler, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, lighting, power, water, water treatment, access controls, and fire systems.
  • Instruct or lead other engineers when supervision is not available.
  • Be present during events outside of regular business hours as necessary.

Requirements

  • Must pass an examination for Stationary Engineer to establish list eligibility prior to job offer.
  • Ability to operate various motorized vehicles and equipment including trucks and forklifts.
  • Knowledge of intermediate computer operations necessary to repair and maintain control systems for ventilating and air-conditioning systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple programs or projects.
  • Ability to work within demanding timeframes.
  • Possess an HVAC Technician EPA Clean Air Section 608 Certification.
