Schedule for the first 2-4 weeks during onboarding will be Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Local bidders (CSC employees) will be considered first and must file their bid requests for this position by the 'Final Filing Date' with State Human Resources (SHR), using the Post and Bid Request form, SHR 207 (Rev 05/2024). The employee with the greatest amount of continuous 'local work location' seniority in the class shall be selected over other employees and notified of start date. If there are no local bidders, then the selection criteria above in 'Who May Apply' will be utilized. The position is based in Los Angeles and may require overtime during nights and weekends, as necessary, to be present during events outside of regular business hours. A flexible schedule is available, however, full remote work or telework is not an option. Under the general direction of the Chief Engineer II, the Stationary Engineer, performs work to a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of boiler, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, lighting, power, water, water treatment, access controls, and fire systems in State-owned and occupied buildings. May instruct, or lead other engineers when supervision is not available, and do other work as required. Apply today to join our team! Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of boiler systems.
  • Maintain and repair heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.
  • Oversee lighting, power, water, and water treatment systems.
  • Manage access controls and fire systems in State-owned buildings.
  • Instruct or lead other engineers when supervision is not available.

Requirements

  • Must pass an examination for Stationary Engineer to establish list eligibility.
  • Ability to operate various motorized vehicles and equipment including trucks and forklifts.
  • Knowledge of intermediate computer operations necessary to repair and maintain control systems for ventilating and air-conditioning systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple programs or projects.
  • Ability to work within demanding timeframes.
  • Possess an HVAC Technician EPA Clean Air Section 608 Certification.
