About the position

The Statistical Analyst/Programmer position at Harvard University involves working within the Healthcare Quality and Outcomes Lab (HqO) at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. The role focuses on supporting a multidisciplinary team in health policy and health services research projects, utilizing large national claims datasets to evaluate the effectiveness of US health reform. Responsibilities

  • Organizes, maintains and manages data used in large research studies from multiple sources
  • Designs analytical databases and maintains the integrity of the databases, including merging of multiple data sets and data manipulation to perform statistical analysis
  • Manages large data sets involving multiple years of data
  • Interacts with remote consultants or team members
  • Provides statistical analyses for multiple projects including multiple logistic and linear regression, longitudinal analysis, hierarchical models, and survey analysis
  • Develops scientific reports and presentations
  • Gives guidance to, and collaborates with faculties and statisticians on analytical objectives
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, public health, applied mathematics, computer science, or closely related field, or equivalent experience required
  • 3+ years of related work experience required
  • Statistical programming experience in SAS required
  • Strong database management and computer skills required

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Statistics/Biostatistics preferred, with 1-3 years working experience
  • Advanced skills/experience in statistical programming and data management
  • Knowledge of statistical research methodology/principles
  • Knowledge of SAS
  • Knowledge of SUDAAN and UNIX
  • Ability to summarize/interpret complex analyses and strong deductive reasoning skills
  • Ability to maintain detailed documentation of data management and programming work
  • Comfortable working with multiple PIs and multiple projects at the same time
