About the position

The Statistical Analyst/Programmer will work closely with faculty and research team members at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, focusing on a variety of health policy and health services research projects. This role involves managing and analyzing large datasets, providing statistical analyses, and contributing to the development of scientific reports and presentations. The position is ideal for candidates seeking research experience before pursuing further graduate education.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes, maintains, and manages data used in large research studies from multiple sources.
  • Designs analytical databases and maintains the integrity of the databases, including merging multiple datasets and data manipulation for statistical analysis.
  • Manages large datasets involving multiple years of data.
  • Interacts with remote consultants or team members.
  • Provides statistical analyses for multiple projects including logistic and linear regression, longitudinal analysis, hierarchical models, and survey analysis.
  • Develops scientific reports and presentations.
  • Gives guidance to and collaborates with faculty and statisticians on analytical objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, public health, applied mathematics, computer science, or closely related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • 3+ years of related work experience required.
  • Statistical programming experience in SAS required.
  • Strong database management and computer skills required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Statistics/Biostatistics preferred, with 1-3 years working experience.
  • Advanced skills/experience in statistical programming and data management.
  • Knowledge of statistical research methodology/principles.
  • Knowledge of SAS, SUDAAN, and UNIX.
  • Ability to summarize/interpret complex analyses and strong deductive reasoning skills.
  • Ability to maintain detailed documentation of data management and programming work.
  • Comfortable working with multiple PIs and multiple projects at the same time.
