About the position

As a Steel Warehouse Associate, you will play a crucial role in the steel warehouse operation, ensuring that all tasks are performed efficiently and safely. Your primary responsibilities will include arriving on time for your shift, dressed in the appropriate company uniform and steel-toed shoes, and being ready to work. Safety is paramount in this role; therefore, you will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats and safety glasses at all times, and gloves when handling steel materials. You will be expected to notify your supervisor of any issues that arise during your shift, including damaged materials, processing errors, equipment breakdowns, or accidents. Your daily tasks will involve pulling, putting away, loading, unloading, color coding (painting), processing, bundling, labeling, and tagging steel. It is essential to obtain the customer's signature and printed name on all necessary documents before allowing any material to leave the warehouse. You will also be responsible for operating all equipment properly and safely, performing and documenting equipment inspections and services as directed by your supervisor, and maintaining a clean and tidy work area daily. Additionally, you will participate in the annual physical inventory and perform daily cycle counts to ensure accurate stock levels. This position requires adherence to the policies outlined in the Employee Handbook and the Employee Safety Handbook. It is important to note that cell phone use is prohibited during work shifts, and you are expected to maintain a clean-cut, professional appearance while on duty. Smoking and vaping are not allowed in company vehicles and undesignated areas. The role demands physical stamina, as you will be regularly required to lift and move various weights, and you must possess the ability to read and interpret safety documents and use measuring tools effectively.
