About the position

The STEM Coach position is designed for K-12 education within the Victor Central School District. The role emphasizes the development and implementation of curriculum and instructional strategies that align with the district's strategic management plans. The coach will work collaboratively with teachers and administrators to enhance STEM education across the district, focusing on inquiry-based instructional strategies and the integration of social-emotional learning (SEL) within the curriculum. This is a ten-month position with additional paid work days in the summer.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate curriculum development and revision, emphasizing vertical alignment across grade bands
  • Plan, develop and implement professional learning aligned to VCSD Strategic/Management Plans, focusing on NYS Next Generation Instructional Shifts, Mathematical, Scientific and Engineering Practices
  • Support NYS Science Investigations for Grades 3-8
  • Implement inquiry-based Tier 1 instructional strategies
  • Integrate SEL within instructional planning
  • Provide Tier 1 (classroom based) instructional support during STEM instruction, K-12
  • Communicate with Teacher Leaders, Classroom teachers and Special Educators in support of student learning
  • Explore opportunities to promote STEM integration in the classroom and across the district
  • Collaborate with the Director of Science and Mathematics to coordinate the implementation of new curriculum and monitor instructional shifts
  • Analyze data with the Director of Science and Mathematics to inform needs
  • Coordinate with building-based teacher leaders and administrators to organize instructional materials and resources to support assessment
  • Participate in professional learning and networking within and beyond the region to deepen understanding of instructional best practices in STEM
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the P-12 Director of Science and Mathematics

Requirements

  • Hold valid New York State Teacher Certification
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in an educational setting
  • Ability to work effectively with all stakeholders
