About the position

The STEMM-Up Career Pathway Coordinator is responsible for creating new pathways for individuals with disabilities to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEMM). This role involves collaboration with Michigan Rehabilitation Services to support job seekers, particularly those from historically underrepresented groups, in achieving their career goals through education and training. The coordinator will act as a resource for job seekers, manage casework, and promote STEMM careers while fostering partnerships with educational institutions and employers.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule STEMM-Up appointments, intakes, and evaluations with jobseekers.
  • Collaborate with MRS counselors to obtain pertinent data related to customers with disabilities.
  • Provide direct case management services focused on STEMM careers, including career counseling and job readiness services.
  • Administer customer self-assessments to identify career interests and self-advocacy skills.
  • Maintain communication with counselors regarding individualized STEMM recommendations and customer progress.
  • Conduct in-person business engagement to develop STEMM exposure opportunities for participants.
  • Promote STEMM careers and MRS services through presentations and events.
  • Develop partnerships with educational institutions to support customer STEMM goals.
  • Facilitate completion of customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Assist in the development of STEMM-related community resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent skills and experiences.
  • Knowledge of Vocational Rehabilitation and STEMM fields.
  • Familiarity with state initiatives that support STEMM training.
  • Knowledge of employment laws including WIOA, EEOC, ADAAA, and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility initiatives.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to develop relationships with agencies, businesses, and communities.
  • Experience with Case Management Systems (CMS) and data entry, as well as proficiency in Microsoft products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in marketing and customer satisfaction principles.
  • Knowledge of agency mission and strategic planning.
