About the position

The Sterile Processing Educator is responsible for assessing, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs within the Sterile Processing Department. This role focuses on enhancing staff competencies, ensuring adherence to policies, and maintaining effective communication with various departments. The position does not involve direct patient care but emphasizes quality improvement and professional development within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Identify educational needs and practice gaps of staff by collecting and analyzing data.
  • Develop instructional programs that prescribe education curricula and strategies based on desired outcomes.
  • Establish policies, procedures, and standards of work for educational initiatives.
  • Implement educational curricula utilizing adult learning principles and coordinate educational activities.
  • Act as a preceptor for assigned staff as designated by management.
  • Analyze evaluations of educational programs and monitor progress toward goals.
  • Organize and facilitate competency models related to sterile processing standards and compliance.
  • Maintain and enhance the quality of instructional programs and advocate for individuals' rights.
  • Coordinate quality monitoring programs and assist in developing reports to impact department outcomes.
  • Maintain current knowledge and competency in the field and participate in professional development activities.
  • Supervise assigned staff in the absence of the Director.
  • Collaborate with individuals and groups to promote quality outcomes and serve as an educational resource.
  • Utilize resources effectively considering safety, efficiency, and cost in instructional programs.
  • Maintain documentation and records of instructional programs as required by policy and regulatory agencies.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with peers, colleagues, and administrators.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3 years of directly related experience.
  • Sterile Processing Certification or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo.
