The Sterile Processing Operations Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely and efficient completion of instrumentation and case carts for use in the Operating Room (O.R.) and Cardiovascular Operating Room (C.V.O.R.). This position involves monitoring the daily activities of the Sterile Processing Department, identifying the orientation and education needs of staff, and assisting in designing and developing programs to promote education and enhance their technical knowledge. The coordinator will also assist the department manager with the development and implementation of new programs and systems, screen candidates for replacement positions, and participate in the completion of annual performance and competency evaluations. In addition, the coordinator is responsible for promoting communication and collaboration among staff to enhance the end products provided to the areas serviced. They will oversee a proactive quality program, report on quality plans, goals, and monitor compliance. The coordinator assumes responsibility for the department in the absence of the manager and acts as a preceptor, mentor, and resource in support of department team members. Required specific skills also include operational skills essential for the role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • CBSPD Certified Surgical Instrument Specialist Credential required.
  • Experience in Sterile Processing and Surgical Services is essential.
