About the position

The Sterile Processing Technician at HCA Florida Raulerson Hospital plays a crucial role in ensuring patient safety by meticulously cleaning, decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, and storing reusable surgical instruments. This position is essential for providing necessary instruments for surgeries and other hospital departments, contributing to the highest standard of care.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, assemble, and test general and specialty instrumentation for proper functioning.
• Identify tray type by contents of instrument tray and report malfunctioning instruments.
• Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and ultrasonic washers.
• Maintain accurate documentation of washing, sterilization, and machine testing.
• Prepare, assemble, and package instruments for surgery and other departments.
• Pull customized case cart sheets for surgical procedures and prepare case carts.
• Inventory and maintain OR storage areas and specialty lockers.
• Audit trays for decontamination, washing, assembly, and sterilization processes.
• Create and maintain accurate records regarding inventories and sterilized goods.

Requirements

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
