About the position

The Sterile Processing Technician 3 (ERT) is a highly skilled role focused on the cleaning, disinfecting, inspecting, sterilizing, and assembling of complex endoscopes used in advanced medical procedures. This position is critical to ensuring safe patient care by adhering to regulatory specifications and maintaining high standards of quality and detail in endoscope reprocessing. The technician will work in a fast-paced environment, supporting various medical services and ensuring that all equipment is properly prepared for use in surgical settings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning, disinfecting, inspecting, and sterilizing of complex endoscopes according to regulatory specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to American Association of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) recommended practices.
  • Manage workflow to meet established turnaround times and administrative deadlines.
  • Provide leadership and customer service within the Central Processing Unit.
  • Participate in professional development and continuing education activities.
  • Utilize instrument tracking systems and perform other sterile processing duties.

Requirements

  • Certification from National Institute for Certification of Healthcare Sterile Processing & Distribution (CRCST or CSPDT).
  • Advanced Certification in Endoscope Reprocessing (CER or CFER).
  • At least five years of recent experience in a similar setting within a Central Processing Unit.
  • One year of demonstrated experience working with flexible scopes within the last two years.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality in work performance.
  • Independent critical thinking skills and initiative to solve problems.
