About the position

The Sterile Processing Technician III at the University of California San Francisco plays a crucial role in ensuring the proper workflow of sterilization and decontamination processes within the Medical Center. This position involves the operational checking, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and supplies, while also maintaining necessary documentation and assisting in the training of other technicians. The incumbent is expected to troubleshoot equipment and customer issues and participate in performance improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Assist in carrying out the responsibilities for the overall workflow of the shift.
• Decontaminate, operationally check, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instrumentation, implants, supplies, and equipment throughout the Medical Center.
• Maintain documentation related to sterilization and decontamination duties.
• Assist in the training of other Sterile Processing Technicians.
• Troubleshoot equipment, instruments, and customer issues.
• Operate and maintain sterilization and decontamination equipment, as well as related computer systems.
• Participate in performance improvement planning and implementation.
• Work flexibly across all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Requirements

• Experience in sterile processing or a related field.
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques and equipment operation.
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for equipment and instruments.
