About the position

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for a variety of duties in relation to decontamination, preparation/assembly, sterilization, and distribution of trays and sets, case arts, equipment, maintains sterilization logs, instrument tracking system, and supply inventory in the sterile processing department. Performs routine cleaning and preventative maintenance of department equipment. Participates in the distribution of supplies to customers while maintaining excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination, preparation/assembly, sterilization, and distribution of trays and sets.
• Maintain sterilization logs and instrument tracking system.
• Manage supply inventory in the sterile processing department.
• Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance of department equipment.
• Participate in the distribution of supplies to customers.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Completion of a training course that qualifies for certification.
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT).

Nice-to-haves

• One (1) year of Sterile Processing experience and/or previous hospital experience.
• Course in medical terminology, human anatomy, microbiology, infection control, decontamination, disinfection, instrument assembly, and packaging.
• Knowledge of sterilization standards/operations, autoclave operations, and biological monitoring.
