About the position

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Stf. Linux Systems Administrator to join our team in Sunnyvale, CA. This position is integral to the sustainment of a signal distribution system that utilizes a variety of systems, including bare-metal servers, virtual machines (VMs), on-prem Kubernetes hosting services, and cloud-hosted services. The successful candidate will not only support the operational systems but also contribute to the active development of new capabilities and the recapitalization of existing systems. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to engage in challenging missions that inspire creativity and innovation in the aerospace and defense sectors. As a Linux Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for building and maintaining development environments and workstations to support software development teams. You will troubleshoot both development and operational systems, fault-isolating issues, and collaborating with software and network teams to develop effective solutions. Your responsibilities will also include managing all server hardware and operating systems across both physical and virtual systems, including cloud environments. This encompasses maintaining operational systems through patching, security hardening, and the deployment of new servers for upgrades and recaps. Candidates must possess an active TS security clearance and be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with Poly. Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain development environments and workstations for software development teams.
  • Troubleshoot development and operational systems to fault-isolate issues.
  • Collaborate with software and network teams to develop solutions for identified issues.
  • Manage all server hardware and operating systems across physical and virtual systems, including cloud environments.
  • Maintain operational systems through patching, security hardening, and deployment of new servers for upgrades and recaps.

Requirements

  • Experience with troubleshooting and researching server failures and anomalies.
  • Current CompTIA Security+ or (ISC)2 CISSP certification.
  • Current experience with Linux (any distribution, Red Hat preferred).
  • Experience with at least one of Free IPA, LDAP, or Active Directory.
  • Experience with Ansible.
  • Must have an active TS security clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with Poly.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic networking skills.
  • Prior programming experience.
  • Server hardening experience.
  • Experience with Amazon AWS or other cloud service providers.
  • Experience with VMWare vCenter/ESXi or other hypervisors.
  • Familiarity with containers (Docker and/or Containerd).
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite.
  • Storage experience, including disk/tape backup.
  • CompTIA Linux+ / Linux Professional Institute LPIC-1 or equivalent certification.
  • Willingness to learn and accept mentoring.
