About the position

The State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) at Friends Health Care Association plays a crucial role in providing compassionate and comprehensive care to residents. This position involves assisting with daily living activities, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for residents. The STNA is responsible for both administrative and personal nursing care functions, contributing to the overall well-being of the residents while adhering to established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative and descriptive manner.
  • Report all changes in the residents' condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse as soon as practical.
  • Make residents comfortable by assisting with their needs, such as getting water or preparing for bed.
  • Greet residents and escort them to their rooms, introducing them to their roommates and other personnel as appropriate.
  • Assist residents with daily dental and mouth care, bathing, dressing, and grooming as necessary.
  • Maintain intake and output records and assist residents with bowel and bladder functions.
  • Provide daily indwelling catheter care and perineal care as instructed.
  • Assist with feeding residents and record their food/fluid intake.
  • Participate in scheduled training and educational classes to maintain current certification as a Nursing Assistant.
  • Follow established safety precautions in the performance of all duties.

Requirements

  • Must possess a minimum of a 10th grade education.
  • Must be a certified State Tested Nursing Assistant in accordance with laws of Ohio.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel and contribute to a supportive team environment.
