About the position

The Stocker position at Hy-Vee is focused on providing excellent customer service while efficiently managing stock and inventory in the grocery department. The role involves unloading products, stocking shelves, and ensuring a pleasant shopping experience for customers. The Stocker is expected to work collaboratively with team members and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in the store.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn their names.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, loading or unloading heavy items, and addressing customer suggestions or requests.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly service to customers who call.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Unloads trucks, opens containers, stocks shelves, and rotates products as necessary.
• Monitors for mis-picked items and reviews product outs and wrong deliveries.
• Organizes stock for efficiency and cleans/restocks damaged items.
• Tags shelves with overstock and reports new items for system input.
• Maintains adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
• Operates register for customer purchases and trains new stockers in job duties.
• Performs outside maintenance tasks such as shoveling snow and spreading ice melt.
• Stocks supplies and cleans various areas of the store.
• Orders merchandise and supplies as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
