Stores Clerks perform a variety of clerical and manual activities in receiving, storing and issuing goods, materials, equipment and records in a stockroom, warehouse or records center and perform related record keeping activities; processing and delivery of incoming and outgoing written communications and packages consisting of intra-agency, inter-agency and extra-agency material and in the receipt, storage and distribution of office supplies, equipment, furniture, forms, various publications and related material. These activities are accomplished in accordance with applicable procedures, rules, regulations and laws. Depending on experience or need, may perform various clerical and manual activities in the receipt, storage, and distribution of goods, materials, equipment, office supplies and records in a stockroom, warehouse or records center. Stores consist of a wide variety of items, including tools, paint, hardware, building supplies, construction materials, automotive and machine supplies, replacement parts, perishable and non-perishable items, such as foodstuffs, dry goods, household and office supplies and equipment, laboratory supplies and equipment, clothing, medical supplies and equipment, printing supplies, forms and records. The rules and regulations of the U.S. Postal Service along with procedures issued by the Office of General Services govern the processing of outgoing communications.
