About the position

The Stone Process and Performance Engineer at Carmeuse Americas is responsible for driving innovation and continuous process improvement within the limestone processing operations. This role serves as the primary contact for plants, assessing performance and operations, and providing guidance on equipment selection, design, and execution of capital projects. The engineer will work closely with operations, engineering, and project management to enhance efficiency and reduce costs while ensuring safety and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight for onsite safety for operations and construction as applicable.
  • Assist in analyzing and troubleshooting process and maintenance problems and identifying solutions to reduce downtime and minimize costs.
  • Identify and implement projects that improve quality and/or reduce plant-operating costs in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Evaluate and optimize process circuits and equipment performance, proposing modifications to improve plant performance.
  • Determine methods, procedures, parts, and equipment needed to implement process-engineering changes.
  • Meet end user expectations with a focus on functional effectiveness, long-term reliability, and ease of maintenance.
  • Implement consistent internal goals and tasks for Carmeuse North America operations.
  • Develop process flow charts and utilize industry programs to support Engineering and Process at sites.
  • Monitor process equipment and conduct audits to standardize operations and achieve expected key performance indicators.
  • Interface with all levels of management and employees to gather information for implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain and further develop expertise in stone processing.
  • Work with vendors to specify and provide cost-efficient and dependable equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering or similar Engineering discipline; or Associates/Bachelor's degree with applicable experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in the mining industry, preferably in aggregates/lime/cement or Sand and Gravel industry.
  • Experience with a wide range of mining, crushing, screening, material handling, and milling equipment.
  • Proficiency with MSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Proficiency with process control of stone processing equipment design and aggregate manufacture.
  • Detail and process-oriented with strong problem resolution abilities; ability to use root cause analysis to troubleshoot.
