About the position

The Stop Loss Actuarial Analyst III plays a crucial role in the Employer Group Stop Loss segment at Elevance Health, focusing on complex actuarial studies and diverse projects that support Commercial Pricing functions. This position is integral to the rapidly growing Wellpoint Stop Loss segment, where the analyst will be responsible for analyzing and implementing risk contracts. This includes conducting experience analyses, pricing, filing, and settlement work, as well as preparing management reports that inform strategic decisions. The analyst will also assist in the training of actuarial trainees, analysts, and specialists, ensuring that knowledge and skills are effectively passed on within the team. Additionally, the role involves coordinating and directing special actuarial projects, collaborating with a diverse group of stakeholders to provide pricing support and risk analysis, which is essential for the success of the organization in managing risk and optimizing pricing strategies. Elevance Health operates under a Hybrid Workforce Strategy, which allows for flexibility while ensuring that associates have opportunities to connect in person. Associates are required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, with specific expectations discussed during the hiring process. This role requires a strong foundation in actuarial science, demonstrated by passing a minimum of four Society of Actuaries (SOA) actuarial exams and having at least three years of related experience. Candidates with knowledge or work experience in the Stop Loss product area and large group commercial pricing experience are preferred, as these skills will enhance the analyst's ability to contribute effectively to the team and the organization as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and implements risk contracts including conducting experience analyses, pricing, filing and settlement work; and prepares management reports.

Requirements

  • Requires a BA/BS and to have passed a minimum of four Society of Actuaries (SOA) actuarial exams.
  • A minimum of 3 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
