About the position

The Store 2643-Dept Manager Inventory Control position in Addison, TX, is primarily responsible for overseeing the receiving and inventory control processes within the store. This role involves receiving deliveries from various vendors, verifying the accuracy of invoices, and ensuring that all products are accounted for and stored correctly. The manager will maintain a good rapport with vendors and ensure that all receiving systems are operated according to company and division policies. The position requires a strong focus on customer service, as the manager will maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness while providing fast and friendly service. In addition to receiving deliveries, the manager will be responsible for cost control, quality control, and inventory management. This includes verifying orders against invoices, auditing product cases, and using electronic systems to ensure accurate cost verification. The manager will also maintain organized records and reports in accordance with the established filing system and record retention schedule. Preventing shrinkage, damage, and spoilage of products is a critical aspect of this role, as is ensuring the security and cleanliness of the receiving, storage, and loading dock areas. The position also involves training employees in store policies and procedures, identifying potential leaders for advancement, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards. The manager will operate various equipment, including manual and electric pallet jacks, and may occasionally perform stocking and pricing duties in the absence of other clerks. Overall, this role is essential for maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of the store's inventory control operations.

Responsibilities

  • Receives all DSD (Direct Store Delivery) deliveries made to the store and logs them into the computer.
  • Breaks down loads from DSD suppliers and transports products to the appropriate storage areas.
  • Ensures cost control, quality control, and inventory control by verifying orders against invoices and auditing product cases.
  • Maintains invoices and reports in the established filing system according to the record retention schedule.
  • Reviews and accepts only proper and correct orders submitted by outside sales representatives.
  • Prevents shrink, damage, and spoilage of products, and manages the repair and pricing of damaged products.
  • Responsible for the security, sanitation, and organization of the receiving, storage, and loading dock areas.
  • Trains employees in store policies, sales, and record-keeping procedures.
  • Inspects backroom equipment and reports any malfunctions to the store director.
  • Ensures compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to frequently reach, lift, and maneuver objects weighing up to approximately 60 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and perform repetitious arm movements.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.
  • Familiarity with product variety, perishability, and handling standards.
