The Store 3312-Dept Manager Inventory Control position in Dallas, TX, is a vital role within the retail environment, primarily responsible for overseeing the inventory control processes and managing the receiving of products from various vendors. This position reports directly to the Store Director and plays a crucial part in ensuring that all deliveries are accurately logged and that the store maintains a high standard of inventory management. The individual in this role will be tasked with verifying the accuracy of invoices, ensuring that any damages or shortages are properly credited, and operating receiving systems in accordance with company policies. A strong emphasis is placed on maintaining a good rapport with vendors and ensuring that the receiving, storage, and loading dock areas are secure, sanitary, and organized. In addition to managing the receiving processes, the Department Manager will also be responsible for training employees in store policies and procedures, particularly those related to inventory control and customer service. The role requires a proactive approach to prevent shrinkage, damage, and spoilage of products, which includes inspecting and maintaining equipment used in the receiving process. The Department Manager will also be expected to perform various duties related to ordering, stocking, and pricing products, particularly in the absence of other clerks. This position requires a strong understanding of company policies and guidelines, as well as the ability to enforce proper code dating for all products within the department. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to maintain a professional demeanor with both customers and co-workers. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to approximately 60 lbs, as well as the ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitious movements. The work environment is generally temperature-controlled, but frequent exposure to refrigerated conditions and occasional exposure to freezing temperatures is expected. The role may also require working nights, weekends, and holidays, with scheduled hours varying based on store needs.

Responsibilities

• Receives all DSD (Direct Store Delivery) deliveries made to the store and logs them into the computer.
• Breaks down loads from DSD suppliers and transports products to the appropriate storage areas.
• Ensures cost control, quality control, and inventory control by verifying orders against invoices and auditing product cases.
• Maintains invoices and reports in the established filing system according to the record retention schedule.
• Reviews and accepts only proper and correct orders submitted by outside sales representatives.
• Prevents shrink, damage, and spoilage of products, repairing and pricing damaged products if saleable.
• Responsible for the security, sanitation, and organization of the receiving, storage, and loading dock areas.
• Trains employees in store policies, sales, and record-keeping procedures.
• Operates related equipment such as manual and electric pallet jacks, power lifts, balers, and compactors.
• Inspects backroom equipment and reports any malfunctions to the store director.

Requirements

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and perform repetitious arm movements.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.
• Understanding of product variety, perishability, product handling, sanitation, labeling, and department policies.
