The Store 3312-Dept Manager Inventory Control position in Fort Worth, TX, is a vital role within the retail environment, primarily responsible for overseeing the inventory control processes and ensuring the efficient receipt and management of store products. This position reports directly to the Store Director and plays a crucial part in maintaining the operational standards of the store. The individual in this role will be tasked with receiving deliveries from various vendors, verifying the accuracy of invoices, and ensuring that any discrepancies are addressed promptly. The position requires a strong focus on customer service, as maintaining a positive rapport with vendors and ensuring customer satisfaction is paramount. In addition to receiving deliveries, the Department Manager will be responsible for operating the receiving systems in accordance with company policies. This includes logging all deliveries into the computer system, breaking down loads from Direct Store Delivery (DSD) suppliers, and transporting products to the appropriate storage areas. The role also involves implementing cost control measures, conducting quality checks, and managing inventory levels to prevent shrinkage and spoilage. The Department Manager will maintain organized records of invoices and reports, ensuring compliance with the established filing system and record retention schedule. The position also encompasses training responsibilities, where the manager will train employees on store policies, sales procedures, and record-keeping practices. The Department Manager will be expected to identify and mentor employees with potential for advancement, fostering a culture of growth and development within the team. Furthermore, the role requires adherence to safety and sanitation standards, ensuring that the receiving, storage, and loading dock areas are secure and well-maintained. Responsibilities

  • Receives all DSD deliveries made to the store and logs them into the computer system.
  • Breaks down loads from DSD suppliers and transports products to the freezer or cooler area.
  • Ensures cost control, quality control, and inventory control by verifying orders against invoices.
  • Maintains invoices and reports in the established filing system according to the record retention schedule.
  • Reviews and accepts only proper and correct orders submitted by outside sales representatives.
  • Prevents shrink, damage, and spoilage of products, repairing and pricing damaged products if saleable.
  • Responsible for the security, sanitation, and organization of the receiving, storage, and loading dock areas.
  • Trains employees in store policies, sales, and record-keeping procedures.
  • Operates related equipment such as manual and electric pallet jacks, power lifts, balers, and compactors.
  • Inspects backroom equipment and reports any malfunctions to the store director.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to frequently reach, lift, and maneuver objects weighing up to approximately 60 lbs.
  • Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitious arm movements.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.
  • Familiarity with product variety, perishability, and handling standards.
