About the position

The Receiver/Inventory Control Manager & Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for overseeing the receipt of deliveries from various vendors, ensuring the accuracy of invoices, and maintaining a good rapport with vendors. This role is crucial in managing the inventory control processes according to company policies and procedures. The position requires a strong focus on customer service, as the individual will maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness while providing fast and friendly service. The Receiver will log all deliveries into the computer system, break down loads from Direct Store Delivery (DSD) suppliers, and may transport products to the freezer or cooler areas as needed. In addition to receiving deliveries, the Receiver is responsible for verifying orders against invoices, auditing product cases, and using electronic systems to ensure cost control and quality assurance. The role also involves maintaining organized records of invoices and reports, preventing shrinkage, damage, and spoilage of products, and ensuring the security and cleanliness of the receiving and storage areas. Training duties are also part of the job, where the Receiver will train employees on store policies and procedures, as well as identify those with potential for advancement. The Receiver must comply with workplace safety rules and regulations, ensuring that all job duties are performed safely, accurately, and with integrity. The position may require occasional duties such as ordering, stocking, and pricing products in the absence of other clerks. The Receiver will also be responsible for maintaining proper code dating for all products and ensuring compliance with company grooming standards and dress code. Overall, this position plays a vital role in the efficient operation of the store's inventory management system and customer service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Receives all DSD deliveries made to the store and logs them into the computer.
  • Breaks down loads from DSD suppliers and transports products to the freezer or cooler area as needed.
  • Verifies orders against invoices and audits product cases to ensure cost control and quality assurance.
  • Maintains organized records of invoices and reports according to the record retention schedule.
  • Prevents shrink, damage, and spoilage of products by inspecting and managing inventory effectively.
  • Trains employees on store policies, sales, and record-keeping procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintains the security, sanitation, and organization of the receiving, storage, and loading dock areas.
  • Operates related equipment such as manual and electric pallet jacks, power lifts, and balers.
  • Performs additional duties such as ordering, stocking, and pricing products in the absence of other clerks.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to frequently reach, lift, and maneuver objects weighing up to approximately 60 lbs.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.
  • Familiarity with product variety, perishability, and handling standards.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitious arm movements.

  • Experience in inventory management or retail operations.
