About the position

The Department Manager for Inventory Control at Store 3563 in Duncanville, TX, plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient management of inventory and receiving processes. This position is responsible for overseeing the receipt of deliveries from various vendors, verifying the accuracy of invoices, and ensuring that all products are accounted for and stored correctly. The manager will maintain a strong rapport with vendors and ensure that all receiving systems are operated according to company policies and procedures. This role is essential in maintaining the quality and integrity of the store's inventory, which directly impacts customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. In addition to managing the receiving process, the Department Manager will also be responsible for training and supervising staff, ensuring that all employees are well-versed in store policies, sales procedures, and record-keeping practices. The manager will play a key role in preventing shrinkage, damage, and spoilage of products, and will be responsible for the security and organization of the receiving and storage areas. This position requires a proactive approach to inventory management, including regular audits and inspections of products and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, as they will interact with both customers and co-workers regularly. They must be able to lift and maneuver heavy objects, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks. The work environment is generally temperature-controlled, but the manager will frequently be exposed to refrigerated conditions and may need to handle products in a freezer. This position may require occasional travel, including overnight trips, to ensure compliance with company standards and to attend training or meetings as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Receives all Direct Store Delivery (DSD) deliveries and logs them into the computer system.
  • Breaks down loads from DSD suppliers and transports products to appropriate storage areas.
  • Verifies orders against invoices and audits product cases to ensure cost control and quality.
  • Maintains invoices and reports in accordance with the record retention schedule.
  • Prevents shrink, damage, and spoilage of products by inspecting and managing inventory.
  • Responsible for the security, sanitation, and organization of receiving and storage areas.
  • Trains employees on store policies and procedures, including sales and record-keeping.
  • Operates related equipment such as manual and electric pallet jacks, power lifts, and balers.
  • Inspects backroom equipment and reports malfunctions to the store director.
  • Ensures compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to approximately 60 lbs.
  • Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.
  • Familiarity with product handling, sanitation, and labeling standards.
