About the position

The Asset Protection Manager at Meijer plays a crucial role in fostering a culture of shrink prevention and safety within the store environment. This position involves collaborating with the Market Asset Protection Manager and Store Leadership to implement effective theft controls, operational excellence, and people development strategies. The manager oversees the Asset Protection team, ensuring the execution of shrink prevention initiatives and maintaining a safe and secure environment for both employees and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage leadership of the Asset Protection team including hiring, performance reviews, and scheduling within budget standards.
  • Participate in investigations of internal/external losses and ensure execution of deterrence methods.
  • Serve as a permanent member of the store's Safety Committee team and promote safety accountability.
  • Conduct safety audits to identify unsafe conditions and implement strategies to remedy concerns.
  • Ensure physical security of assigned unit, including AP technology and fire protection systems.
  • Develop and implement strategies related to store's shrink plans and ensure Asset Protection goals are met.
  • Review financial reports to determine root causes of issues and partner with store leadership for resolutions.
  • Conduct pre and post inventory assessments and analysis.
  • Attend and present at store meetings and new team member orientations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • 1 - 2 years of retail experience.
  • 1 - 2 years of investigative experience preferred.
  • 1 - 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to think strategically and make discretionary recommendations.
  • Ability to proficiently delegate tasks across multiple units.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong investigative skills and techniques.
  • Understanding of the criminal and civil justice system.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in interviewing and interrogation tactics (Wicklander preferred).
  • Understanding of Organized Retail Crime.
  • Knowledge of retail operations and product protection strategies.
