About the position

As an AP Executive Intern at Target, you will gain a valuable and realistic preview of the Executive Team Leader - Assets Protection role, which is akin to an Assistant Store Manager - Assets Protection. This internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in the Assets Protection (AP) business area, allowing you to work closely with a mentor and learn about various team functions within our stores. The AP team's primary function is to ensure a safe and secure environment for both team members and guests while meeting financial goals related to shortage and profitability. This involves leading a culture of physical security and safety, responding to crisis events, investigating theft, and educating team members on operational shortage priorities. During your internship, you will be expected to take initiative in learning how to be an effective AP leader. This includes managing a safe and secure culture, creating strategic AP strategies and goals, and delivering results through your team. You will also be involved in identifying and resolving external theft and fraud, managing internal investigations, and participating in the recruitment and talent management of hourly team members and leaders. Your role will be dynamic, with no two days being the same, and you will have the opportunity to contribute new ideas and solutions to business challenges. A typical day may involve actively participating in training activities, demonstrating a commitment to learning Target's leadership expectations, and providing coaching and feedback to team members. You will also influence and validate a safe culture by driving physical security processes, educating store leaders on emergency preparedness, and identifying shortage risks to develop proactive strategies. The internship will require you to work a flexible schedule that aligns with guest and business needs, including early morning, overnight shifts, evenings, and weekends. Overall, this internship is an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills and gain insights into the retail industry while contributing to a team that prioritizes safety and guest satisfaction.
