About the position

As an AP Executive Intern at Target, you will gain a valuable and realistic preview of the Executive Team Leader - Assets Protection role, which is akin to an Assistant Store Manager - Assets Protection. This internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in the Assets Protection (AP) business area, allowing you to work closely with a mentor and learn about various team functions within our stores. The AP team's primary function is to ensure a safe and secure environment for both team members and guests while meeting financial goals related to shortage and profitability. This involves leading a culture of physical security and safety, responding to crisis events, investigating theft, and educating team members on operational shortage priorities. During your internship, you will be expected to take initiative in learning how to be an effective AP leader. This includes seeking out growth opportunities, providing innovative ideas and solutions to business challenges, and committing to understanding Target's leadership expectations. You will actively participate in training activities and developmental opportunities, demonstrating a willingness to step out of your comfort zone and take on new assignments. Your responsibilities will also include partnering with store leaders to enhance team performance, influencing a culture of safety and compliance, and identifying strategies to mitigate theft and shortage risks. The role is dynamic, with no two days being the same. You will engage in various tasks such as educating store teams on emergency preparedness, supporting internal investigations, and developing proactive strategies to prevent theft. Additionally, you will model a safety culture by recognizing safe behaviors and addressing safety hazards. This internship is not just about learning; it’s about making a tangible impact on the store's operations and contributing to a positive shopping experience for our guests.
