About the position

The Shortage Control Associate (SCA) plays a crucial role in maintaining a secure shopping environment while delivering exceptional customer service. This position involves monitoring store entrances and high-risk areas to mitigate theft and enhance the overall shopping experience. The SCA is responsible for engaging with customers and associates, promoting safety and security standards, and supporting theft reduction programs.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor store entrances and high-risk areas to prevent theft and ensure a safe shopping environment.
  • Greet every customer entering or exiting the store with a warm smile and friendly greeting.
  • Conduct bag and package checks on store and corporate associates to ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively about theft prevention during store rallies and collaborate with the Manager on Duty.
  • Provide support in training associates on shortage reduction programs and processes.
  • Identify and report theft incidents and suspicious individuals to the Manager on Duty.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and command presence at all times.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, AP/LP, or Operations is preferred.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and visually monitor the store environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is required.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and comprehend business trends.
  • Ability to exhibit a positive demeanor, strong posture, and energetic greeting.
  • Excellent communication skills with customers and co-workers.
  • Excellent leadership skills that foster productive business relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in loss prevention or asset protection is a plus.
  • Knowledge of theft trends and prevention strategies.
