Store Associate

About the position

The Store Associate position involves working in a commissary store within the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) system, where associates perform various duties related to customer service, inventory management, and store operations. Associates may work independently or as part of a team, handling grocery and produce items, operating checkout systems, and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for customers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assisting customers by answering questions regarding item prices and locations, and handling bulky or heavy items.
• Operating an electronic checkout system to record unit prices, total customer purchases, and make change.
• Handling, preparing, and maintaining stock levels of grocery and produce items.
• Reviewing stock levels and gathering inventory data to maintain the Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO) system.
• Preparing and maintaining documents to order commissary items, reconcile invoices, and submit requisitions.
• Maintaining security, safety, and sanitation practices and procedures.

Requirements

• One year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work experience indicating the ability to perform the duties of this position.
• Two full years of successfully completed education above high school at an accredited institution, or a combination of experience and education.
