About the position

As a Backdoor Receiver at King Soopers, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the store's receiving and inventory processes. This position involves providing exceptional customer service while supervising and completing all transactions with third-party vendors. You will be responsible for monitoring the overall store conditions and ensuring that standards are maintained throughout the facility. Your role will also include monitoring and controlling inventory levels, practicing safe food handling guidelines, and supervising the night crew and third-party vendors to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. In addition to these responsibilities, you will be expected to demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. Your ability to lead and manage the receiving area will be essential in maintaining the integrity of the inventory and ensuring that all products are received in optimal condition. You will also assist with various tasks such as processing damaged or returned goods, managing Direct Store Delivery (DSD) inventory, and ensuring that all vendors adhere to company policies. Your role will require you to stay current with seasonal and promotional ads, assist with price changes, and maintain excellent standards in the receiving and backroom areas. Additionally, you will be responsible for training and developing associates, participating in performance appraisals, and collaborating with team members to achieve store goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service and supervise transactions with third-party vendors.
  • Monitor total store conditions and maintain standards.
  • Control inventory and practice safe food handling guidelines.
  • Supervise and direct the operation of the night crew and third-party vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures by all vendors.
  • Assist with scheduling routine price changes and updating shelf tags.
  • Manage Direct Store Delivery (DSD) inventory and ad space on the sales floor.
  • Process damaged or returned goods and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Assist with markdowns and the 5S process in markdown locations.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logged.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and comprehend basic math functions.
  • Writing skills to complete forms for budgets, inventories, orders, and reports.
  • Good customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and associate relations skills.
  • Experience in grocery department and receiving operations.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Computer Assisted Ordering and balance on hand accuracy.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Experience in training and developing associates.
