About the position

The Store Designer at Spencer Gifts is responsible for creating innovative and functional designs for new, relocated, and remodeled retail stores. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure that store layouts, façade designs, signage, and fixtures meet both company standards and site-specific conditions. The designer will play a crucial role in maintaining prototype standards and ensuring compliance with regulations while also considering cost-effective solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new, relocated, and remodeled store floor plans considering existing site-specific conditions and prototype standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to maintain and develop prototype standards and specifications.
  • Partner with the real estate team, construction team, operations, and external vendors to ensure design integrity.
  • Maintain accurate store data in the Tango database and create layouts based on provided floor plans.
  • Track and manage project milestones, including approvals, site surveys, and construction drawings.
  • Develop façade designs and signage that meet shopping center standards and secure necessary approvals.
  • Design fixtures and conduct cost analysis, reviewing shop drawings to ensure needs are met for new stores.
  • Propose cost-saving ideas and new design options for finishes, colors, and lighting without compromising customer experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Industrial Design, or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years of experience in a national retail chain, architectural, or interior design firm.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and knowledgeable in SketchUp or similar 3D modeling software.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop and Illustrator preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to navigate construction drawings from architectural to engineering.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and manage competing priorities.
  • Detail-oriented with an understanding of big picture goals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with retail design and layout optimization.
  • Knowledge of current design trends in retail environments.
