About the position

The Store Logistics Manager at Academy Sports is responsible for overseeing the operational excellence of the store, particularly in logistics and merchandising. This role involves managing a team of up to 40 employees, ensuring compliance with sales and safety practices, and driving performance to meet operational goals. The position requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and a focus on customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Overall management responsibility for the execution and operational excellence of the entire store.
  • Management responsibility for store logistics and participation in personnel decisions including selection, training, and development of team members.
  • Provides departmental direction and daily supervisory oversight to Logistics and Merchandising Team Leads.
  • Develops and implements strategy for achieving weekly and monthly operational goals.
  • Manages workforce productivity, efficiency, and process improvement projects.
  • Responsible for compliance with established sales, safety, and security practices and procedures.
  • Ensures completion of departmental zoning and adherence to company standards.
  • Supervises execution of various assignments as delegated by the Store Director.
  • Audits firearm sales in compliance with federal and state law and conducts background checks.
  • Provides supervisory oversight to the team member talent lifecycle including hiring and onboarding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • At least three years of relevant work experience required.
  • Demonstrated success in leading departments of up to 40 people.
  • Exceptional supervisory and management skills.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of market and competition.
  • Working knowledge of inventory software and Microsoft Office products.
