About the position

The Assistant Store Manager position at O'Reilly Auto Parts is designed to provide hands-on training for individuals preparing for a management role in a store or future location. The role involves supervising store operations, supporting the store manager, and ensuring the team meets performance and safety standards while maintaining a clean and organized store environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the professional and retail operations of the store and team members.
  • Assist in recruiting, testing, hiring, evaluating, promoting, disciplining, and discharging team members.
  • Communicate information from Team Weekly and monthly store managers' meetings to all team members.
  • Train new team members assigned to the store.
  • Handle team member performance evaluations and recommend pay increases.
  • Support the store manager in ensuring safety compliance and appropriate training for all team members.
  • Make sales calls with or without the store manager and may be assigned a schedule for weekly customer calls.
  • Maintain records for the delivery fleet and ensure the store is neat, clean, and organized.
  • Learn to utilize the electronic scheduling and timekeeping system and payroll entry functions.
  • Monitor professional customer returns and review competitive price matches and price overrides.
  • Review individual team member productivity and KPI dashboard daily and discuss monthly P&L statements with the store manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Completion of Assistant Manager Certification, Sales Specialist Training, and Manager Development Program
  • Ability to read and match numerical/alpha characters quickly and accurately
  • Knowledge of automotive parts, equipment, and systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • O'Reilly store and/or distribution center experience
  • Completed O'Reilly management training program
  • Advanced computer skills
  • ASE Certification
  • Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired).
