About the position

The Store Manager in Training at Advance Auto Parts is a professional-level sales and management position that plays a crucial role in supporting the functions of the business. This position is designed for individuals who are committed to inspiring their team, helping customers succeed, and growing the business with integrity. The Store Manager in Training will be responsible for understanding store systems, automotive systems, and parts knowledge, as well as identifying, troubleshooting, and assisting with DIY projects. The role requires the development and maintenance of professional customer relationships and program growth, while being accountable for achieving financial metrics and maintaining service and appearance standards. This position is exempt and requires a minimum of 50-55 hours per week, excluding meal breaks. The average schedule consists of 5-6 days a week with 11-hour shifts, including rotating nights and weekends, and an hour for lunch. Additional hours may be required based on staffing, store conditions, sales targets, and other business demands. The Store Manager in Training must be flexible and willing to work a schedule that meets the needs of the business. The primary responsibilities include achieving overall store sales goals and service objectives, managing and growing professional customer relationships and sales, and ensuring the execution of all inventory and operational standards. The Store Manager in Training will also coach team members to deliver on customer expectations, handle manager-on-duty responsibilities, and embrace diversity while fostering a respectful environment for both customers and team members. Secondary responsibilities involve providing DIY services such as battery installation and testing, as well as assisting the district or region in other functions upon request. Success in this role requires friendly communication, safety knowledge, and the ability to execute and train on various operational processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives
  • Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships/sales
  • Ensure execution of all inventory and operational standards
  • Coach all Team Members to deliver on Customer expectations
  • Handle manager on duty responsibilities including coaching, task assignment, and safety
  • Provide DIY service including battery installation and testing
  • Assist District/Region in other functions upon request

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 1 year of supervising experience
  • 2 years of business experience
  • ASE Certification preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Financial acumen and ability to analyze P&L statements
  • Ability to lead and manage a team effectively

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Experience in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Knowledge of automotive systems
