About the position

Waterway is seeking candidates for its Manager Training and Development Program in the Kansas City Area. This program is designed for individuals who want to learn how to effectively manage and run a business while being active and outdoors. The Learn to Lead® Manager Development Program offers structured training and mentorship, preparing participants to lead a team and manage a Waterway location. Successful candidates will be motivated leaders eager to gain valuable business and people management experience, with a clear path for advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service by leading by example and addressing customer needs.
  • Manage daily operations and ensure the store meets customer expectations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for customers.
  • Coordinate daily store production and staff based on business needs.
  • Perform quality checks and coach team members to improve service standards.
  • Complete administrative tasks punctually and accurately.
  • Resolve customer and employee concerns effectively.
  • Monitor and manage store inventories and perform regular audits.
  • Lead, manage, and supervise employees, providing coaching and development.
  • Create weekly employee schedules to meet business demands and employee needs.
  • Support and enforce Waterway policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Current and valid driver's license.
  • Associate's degree or above, or at least 2 years of supervisory or management experience in retail or hospitality.
  • Professional sales experience (B2B or B2C) or military leadership experience.
  • Availability to work a retail schedule of 5 of 7 days, including weekends and holidays.
  • At least 16 years of age and authorized to work in the US.

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
