About the position

The Store Manager In Training (SMIT) position at CVS Health is a development-focused role designed to prepare individuals for a future Store Manager position. Participants will engage in a collaborative training environment, supported by a team that includes a District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and a Store Manager coach. The overarching goal of the SMIT program is to cultivate future store leaders who are equipped to drive the company's mission of delivering enhanced human-centric health care. As a Store Manager In Training, you will be expected to actively participate in Key Learning Experiences that will aid in your development and prepare you for potential promotion. This role requires effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to lead and support your team in providing exceptional customer service. You will also be responsible for executing merchandising strategies that contribute to store sales growth, managing store inventory and assets to ensure profitability, and engaging with colleagues to promote the company's purpose of helping people on their path to better health. While selection for the SMIT position provides a pathway to a Store Manager role, it does not guarantee promotion. Factors such as performance and availability of openings will influence the timing and opportunity for advancement. Candidates must be willing to accept a promotion to a Store Manager role at any location within the designated market and be flexible with their work schedule based on business needs. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for candidates holding a Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a structured 16-week training program to prepare for a Store Manager position.
  • Engage in Key Learning Experiences to support personal development and promotion.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to lead and support store operations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred, or relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.
  • Retail management experience or experience as a CVS Supervisor is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
  • Willingness to accept promotion roles within the designated market.
  • Ability to transfer to other CVS Pharmacy stores within the designated market.
  • Flexibility to work a schedule that may vary based on business needs.
